III. The future depends on training the next generation. We are committed to supporting and shaping aspiring mariners into responsible, respected captains and crew — through the Stephen L Cross Jr. Scholarship.

Stephen L. Cross Jr. Scholarship
The Stephen L. Cross Jr. Scholarship, administered by the Sea Corps Maritime Foundation, honors the life of beloved American captain and mentor Stephen Cross Jr. A man of passion, humility and purpose, Stephen dedicated his life to sharing the ocean’s beauty while promoting safety, mentorship and a culture of care.
This scholarship supports young adults pursuing maritime careers — from working on charter yachts to managing marinas or earning Coast Guard credentials. Recipients reflect Stephen’s values: a love for the sea, a commitment to safety and a desire to make a positive impact. Through financial aid, hands-on training and mentorship, we aim to build the next generation of thoughtful, responsible maritime professionals who carry Stephen’s legacy forward — with courage, kindness and confidence.
